Restaurant recommendations in Weston/Crook Counties

Since I'll be doing some eating out, anyone have any favorite restaurants?

I'm a huge fan of Isabella's in Newcastle.  It is an Italian restaurant that also does a little of everything else (specialization is for insects, right?).  They have excellent steak Friday night and big, beautiful burgers which are one of my favorites.

There are also off menu items like the Smokehouse Joe's pizza that are worth trying a slice of.

O, Mama Mia, tutto gracie!  Although I usually prefer my own Italian cooking, when you're on the road, the locals know where to eat.

Sadly, I have no taste. 

When I visited Newcastle I went to Pizza Hut & Taco John's! (Pizza Hut was good, TJ's OK)

I forgot to add, Subway in Sundance. I really liked the people there.

Okay, Steve, fast-food works when you're hungry!

Its hard to reccomend a place in sundance. Other than subway there are only 3 places that are normally open. Aro, Etta's Place and a new hamburger place whose name I cand remember. All are over priced have mediocre food and bad service unless you are a local friend. There is also higbees when they decide to be open but that is hit and miss.

I think Isabella's is for sale in Newcastle, so that may not be open by the time you arrive if it sells (big "IF" there).

Donna's Diner on Main St in Newcastle is ok for diner-quality breakfast; never had other meals there.

These counties are no place for 'fine dining' unless you cook it yourself.

Thanks, all, for the heads up.  The motel I'll be staying at has a microwave and refrigerator, so will manage!

There's that "expensive" place in Buehla (?). Geez, I used to live there and now can't remember how to spell the name! Population 30.
It's a restaurant/bar. Can't miss it. Not cheap though. Good food.

Nothing to speak of in Moorcroft. One cafe I believe.

Small county. No traffic lights anywhere (Crook). Just the way I like it.

Mac, I agree.  I would rather not have a lot of the conveniences more densely populated counties might provide in exchange for fewer people, traffic lights, etc.!  You just learn to cope with less and that makes you become more resourceful.

We were in Hulett some years ago and ate right down the street from the hotel chain (newer hotel, lots of horns hangin' on the walls, damned if I can remember the name lol).

The owner told us he was from the Philly area.  Is that the ponderosa?  There is (or was) a hardware store right across the street.

I like to stop at the ARO in Sundance whenever I'm hauling cows to St.Onge. Their chickenfried steak is pretty good. I've always had good service and did'nt find the prices bad at all.

Yes, that's the Ponderosa. A decent place. Has a bar in back. And they allow smoking too in the room with the bar. One of the last holdouts. Don't like smoking, but I'll defend their right to allow it in THEIR restaurant.

Thanks Mac, I thought it might be the Ponderosa but wasn't certain.  The hotel is the Best Western.

I agree about the smoking.  I like Neil Smith's take on it, I gave up smokes a long time ago for personal reasons but I style myself a political smoker.  I remain split on the aroma; a dead ashtray is foul smelling yet, not too long ago a youngster in my vicinity lit up.  He tapped a camel filter out of the pack, grabbed it with the edge of a tooth/lip combo, pulled out a classic zippo to light it!  That first drift of smoke combined with the smell of the lighter (burning fluid and flint) smelled way better than it should have    But absolutely yes, it's your body to smoke with and it's his establishment to permit smoking.  As it should be.

At any rate, I agree with your assessment of the restaurant.  Decent place and food, nice folks who run it and serve you.
