Checking back in
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:47:24 AM »
Hello everybody,
I realized I haven't posted since September, I have been enjoying married life and concentrating on my new bride, we have passed our 6mo mark, and it has been wonderful. I am truly blessed.

So, we have been thinking about moving to Wyo more, I still haven't found a job here in St Louis, there isn't any construction going on, I can't do electrical work here, do to union rules, over-qualified for some jobs, under for others, mostly I get "We'd hire you today, if we had a an opening".

Don't mean to throw a pity party, but this is the spot I'm in, I'm glad my wife is a teacher at a private school, I have put my apps in at the NPs there in Wyo for maintenance jobs.

I found out all electricians need a Wyo state license and a city as well, my masters lic here in Missouri won't transfer and technically I can't work non-union for 2 years as an electrician.

I have been an electrician for almost 20 years, I also spent 8yrs in the Army, I have worked around horses, and other farm animals and some cows for the last 15 yrs, and I just got a commercial sewing machine that I need to learn how to use. Been studying up and have done some blacksmithing and woodworking for quite awhile.

We don't like the present path our country is headed down, we love Liberty and the outdoors.

When we sell the house we'll have a down payment and debt free, might be able to rent it out if I find enough work.

We plan to  spend some time in Wyo this summer, most of it if I can find some seasonal work, or just move sooner, if I can find some work now.

Any info on life around Ft Laramie would be appreciated, I applied there and we've been liking the looks of things near Thermopolis, and we still need to look up near Crook.

I thank all of you for all that you do,

Jeff

Your experience counts and you just need to take a test.

I have a Wyoming masters license and would be glad to help you out. Wyoming is a right to work state and the IBEW is powerless. Start with the mining operations in Gillette and look around the rest of the state too. All the electricians I know are real busy and hardly noticed the recession.  ~W~

Welcome back to you and your lady. :) Please do plan to visit us here in Newcastle! Can you come to the camp out in June? Let us know how we can help. :)

JeffM, any of these work? Do a search for electrician.

There may also be some new plants being built in the next year or two where you could do construction.

Thanks everyone,
I checked on the reciprocity, Wyo does not have reciprocity with Mo, I'll just have to take the test. Wyo doesn't have reciprocity with Mo for CCW either. These things are fine and just have to get it done.

We might be able to make the get together in June, I look forward to meeting you all.

You could start a business as a "handyman". Those guys do plumbing and electrical stuff all the time with no license. Just be smart, be cool, and you shouldn't get in trouble.

Check the railroads too, they have a lot of electricians. The two dominant railroads are the Burlington Northern Santa Fe and the Union Pacific.

You could start a business as a "handyman"....

With a little help from FSW friends for a landing spot, we lived our first six months here job to job as a jack-of-all-trades until I fell into some sweet gravy due to personal contacts developed during those six months.  We now earn more money with MANY MORE PERKS AND less expense than back east...go figure  8)

Jump on into Wyoming any way possible...the water, currently in crystalline form  ;D, is fine!!
